First of all, welcome. I’m Alex, and this is my personal website.

If you want to visit my main personal site, click here.

The website is named “Undertide,” which corresponds exactly to the Chinese name “于潮汐之下.” The name is related to one of my songs: Stay Under the Tide. I wanted a quiet place on the internet where I can share many kinds of content. Whether it’s audio engineering, natural science, computer technology, daily writing, thoughts on literature/film, or consumer electronics reviews, you’ll find them here. I hope every visitor can discover something interesting.

About This Website

Articles are currently organized into five main categories:

  • Science: Mathematics, statistics, and other knowledge-sharing content.
  • Development: Programming, web development, and related technical topics.
  • Recommendations: Recommended works and product reviews.
  • Audio Engineering: Recording, production, arrangement, mixing/mastering, and personal technical notes on modern audio.
  • Thoughts: Daily writing without a fixed theme.

You can browse categories from the top navigation, or use the search bar to find posts by keyword.

  • The timeline view shows posts in chronological order.
  • There are three links on the homepage: my Spotify artist page, YouTube channel, and GitHub.
  • Clicking the “Undertide” logo takes you back to the homepage. The sun icon next to it switches between light and dark mode.

About Me

For visitors meeting me for the first time, here is a short profile.

Basic Info

  • I am from Wuhan, Hubei, and currently live in Toronto, Canada.
  • Besides my legal name and Alex, I also use other names:
    • Alexxon: artist name
    • Kircerta: the name I use most often right now
  • I am a fourth-year undergraduate mathematics student at the University of Toronto, expected to graduate in summer 2026.
  • I am also an audio engineer and music producer. I work fluently in Ableton Live and a range of plugins. My current focus includes mixing/mastering techniques for adding controllable nonlinear characteristics in fully digital production environments, and sound design with different synthesizers. I treat music with the same seriousness as my academic work; both are equally important to me.
  • My artist name is Alexxon, and my work can be found across platforms.
  • In addition to original music, I also work with indie game developers as a composer and sound designer. A recent title I contributed to is 丰收牌局 (Spring 2026).

Interests Beyond Academics and Audio Engineering

  • I am learning electric guitar. My current goal is to play Yorushika’s Blue Two before graduation.
  • I passed Grade 10 piano (China Musicians Association) in primary school. I only remember a few pieces now, and I am trying to pick it up again.
  • I have been an anime fan for about ten years. I started watching in 2015 and still follow seasonal releases. I also watch Chinese animation. I keep a Bangumi account and occasionally post strong opinions there.
  • My favorite sport is cycling.
  • I am currently learning Final Cut Pro.
  • I like video games, though my interest is temporarily lower than before.
  • I follow hardware and consumer electronics (such as GPUs, processors, and phones).
